Mooting and Negotiation Society
Overview
The purpose of the Invictus Negotiations and Mooting Society is to sharpen the member’s abilities in drafting legal memorials (also known as memoranda), and to facilitate the professional application of the law to the provided facts and develop irrefutable legal arguments.
The skills learned will be put into practice through the simulated court proceedings (modeled after the International Criminal Court’s legal proceedings, for example), where the members will be able to develop their debating, advocacy, and persuasive skills in a court setting. The members will learn how to do the necessary researching and fact-finding to support the ‘client’s’ interest and master the bargaining power.
The members of the Committee will have the privileged opportunity to further expand their mooting abilities through high-prestige competitions such as the International Negotiation Competition and the Nuremberg Moot Court.
