Join the Invictus Student Association 2021 Board

The Invictus Student Association (SA) is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individuals to join the Student Association’s Management Board. The board members are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the SA and work as the liaison between The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS), SA Chapters, the Invictus Corporation, and affiliate organisations.

President

Position Overview

The Invictus SA President leads the executive board and general body as the chief administrative officer and official representative of SA. The President acts as the key bridge between SA and the THUAS administration while working as the spokesperson on behalf of the board to liaison with other student organisations, universities, companies, and stakeholders.

The President bears principal responsibility for building collaboration across all SA committees and Chapters and helps them achieve their goals during the academic year. The position’s responsibility for preserving institutional memory is excellent. In addition to coordinating, planning, and hosting activities for the Invictus SA and its Chapters, the President’s responsibility is to gather activity reports and evaluations from the Head of Operations and Finances and pass along lessons learned to future administrations.

 

Head of Mooting and Debating Committee

Position Overview

The Invictus SA Head of Mooting and Debating Committee has as a primary role the advancement of the Mooting Committee through participating at moot court and debating events and upholding the academic nature of such events. In addition, the Head of Mooting and Debating Committee conducts workshops to prepare the Committee members for various mooting and debating events.

The Head of Mooting and Debating Committee must work together with other board members to promote the Invictus SA as a whole alongside mooting and debating events. Furthermore, they are responsible for collecting, compiling and editing information about the past events for the “lessons learned” document for the incoming administration and the annual report.

 

Head of Public Relations and Communication

Position Overview

The Invictus SA Head of Public Relations and Communications manages the Public Relations Committee and is responsible for working closely with all members of SA to manage external and internal communication. This entails recording and disseminating minutes from board meetings, planning and executing marketing campaigns, outreach and messaging activities regarding events of interest to students, and receiving student feedback on ideas and needs. The Head of Public Relations also works to ensure effective communication between SA committees and is responsible for developing new and better ways for SA members and THUAS students to communicate about events and issues at the university.

The Head of Public Relations and Communications is further responsible for maintaining the SA website and social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and updating the THUAS news bulletin boards online and on campus. Additionally, this position coordinates with offices across THUAS to ensure effective communication and compiles photos of SA events throughout the year for the annual report.

 
 

Head of Operations and Finance

Position Overview

The Invictus SA Head of Operations and Finance is responsible for working closely with the Invictus SA board to allocate the yearly budget, maintain a record of revenues and expenditures throughout the year, and oversees the sale of merchandise, training, and entry tickets to all SA events. They are further responsible for maintaining the official SA membership and attendance records, tracking SA members’ good standing, and holding them accountable for the loss and recovery of SA benefits. The Head of Operations and Finance will assist the other SA board members with organising the logistics behind Invictus events.

Additionally, the Head of Operations and Finance works with THUAS administrators to understand funding and budgeting decisions pertaining to students. In this capacity, they act as a link between finance-related student interests and the THUAS administration. At the end of the year, this position is responsible for analysing SA spending to help compile financial “lessons learned” for the incoming administration and the annual report.

 
 

General requirements: 

  • You are currently in or have completed your second year of study (highly motivated first-year students are also encouraged to apply).
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and are open to learning new platforms as needed.
  • You are fluent in English (any additional language is a plus).
  • You possess excellent writing and editing skills.
  • You are capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously and have good time management.
  • You are a quick learner, confident to work independently and in an enthusiastic team.
  • You have outstanding interpersonal and communications skills and can express your ideas openly and constructively.

Additional position-specific requirements: 

Head of Public Relations and Communications: Experience with graphic designing platforms (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva), newsletter platforms is a plus. 

Head of Mooting and Debating Society: You must have prior mooting and debating experience at a university level.
